To be a celebrity sometimes means to be as different as possible. It may refer not only to their style and image but to religion as well. Well, it appears to be that to profess Catholicism or Protestantism is so boring and out-of-date occupation. To tell the truth some of the religions celebrities prefer to profess are pretty weird. So, let’s see the main principles of these religions and those who decide them to the others.
Jehovah’s Witnesses. Well, the definition of the religion is pretty complicated. To be brief it means that one day world’s evil would be destroyed and there would a theocracy established under God’s rule. And also they believe that their interpretation of the Holy Bible is more correct and obviously better than anyone else’s. So they have their own translation of the Bible also known as the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. And of course the witnesses believe that the true name of God is Jehovah. Jehovah’ witnesses deny Trinity conception (not good). By the way there are over 7 million followers of Jehovah. Among them are Venus and Serena Williams, Ja Rule and even Michael Jackson. It seems like they have the same practice of expansion of their ideas worldwide. Thus the urban dictionary defines it as “the religion that sends people in suits to your door preaching their version of the Bible”. Never open the door to them!
Who is the next? OK, Mormons. They are members of so called Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-say Saints. This religion initially distinguished from Protestantism so it is reasonable enough to compare their generalities and differences. But maybe next time. The definition given by on-line dictionaries are pretty vague and ambiguous. They accept, use and believe in the Holy Bible, the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants. But it is not so important as their high moral values they try to hold. It must be pretty difficult for show biz. Good for them. OK, Mormons are Jon Heder, Glenn Beck, Wilford Brimley and Gladys Knight.
And finally Quakers, also known as Friends. Who they are? Well, they are members of so called Religious Society of Friends or Friends’ Church. And again it is quite difficult to define it. How come? Mainly because the Friends are theologically diverse. Some of them profess Christianity, someone prefers Evangelism. Anyway all of them have doctrinal differences. Oh, then how can they be friends? I’m kidding of course, but anyway they supposed to be one of the most peaceful religious group in the whole world. By the way this sect is one of the oldest one and it began in the 17th century. Also they have two forms of worship: programmed and unprogrammed. The first one means that they gather, sing, read the Bible according to the program that is usually held by a pastor. The second form means that everything happens randomly and it is supposed to be conducted by the Holy Spirit. As for me it is a little bit strange. Anyway Dame Judi Dench, Anne Tylers, as well as Ben Kingsley are Quakers. So actually there are not many followers of this religion in Hollywood.
Well, there are a lot of other weird religions that celebrities prefer to profess. But these three are beyond comparison.
